Supporting Lifesongs

Join us at Cowgirl BBQ tonight to benefit the 2017 Lifesongs concert! Anyone dining between 4:30 and 10:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 7 can mention the “Academy for the Love of Learning” or “Lifesongs” and Cowgirl BBQ will donate 25% of all pre-tax revenue directly to Lifesongs for the production of the May 7th concert. Greg Butera and Ryan Little will begin performing at 8:30 p.m., with select members of the Lifesongs Band joining as guest artists.

If you can’t be with us for dinner, you can still directly support the 2017 concert by matching a grant from New Mexico Arts. You can help double the $4,743 grant by giving here before April 30, 2017. All contributions given to match the New Mexico Arts grant will directly support the public performance of months of collaboration between professional musicians, elders, care center facilitators, and youth.

The public performances of Lifesongs are an integral part of the intergenerational arts program, allowing the public community to witness our elders’ songs and stories and strengthen connection across what we all share. Lynn, an attendee at the 2016 Lifesongs concert, stated “It’s important for us to tell and have our stories witnessed. Especially with elders. It validates our lives – we all have interesting lives, even if we don’t think so… I think that sharing our humanity with each other is crucial to healthy community and culture.”

Your support helps promote dignity and inclusion for our elders through sharing their Lifesongs in an annual concert at The Lensic.

Thank you in advance!
