Director of Academy Center Development
David Gordon is a fine artist, who explores, among other themes, how the built environment plays a key role in productivity, learning and wellbeing.
As the director of Academy Center Development, David oversees the facilities and grounds, attending to the constant dialogue between people and the buildings we inhabit. He collaborated with Aaron Stern on the original design of the Academy campus and oversaw its construction, including the mosaic waterfall in the Academy’s lobby, which he built by hand.
Gordon is a member of the Board of Directors, and of the circle that supported the early development of the Academy.
David’s past work includes the creation of over two miles of handmade mosaics for the New York City Subway System in three of their stations, as well as mosaics for the Coney Island Aquarium and Hyatt Hotels. Additionally, he has worked with some of the world’s leading architects.
