Faculty

Vanessa Torres McGovern, MA, LMHC, is a singer-songwriter, musician, therapist, Academy faculty member and Lifesongs facilitating artist. She is honored to co-create original music with individuals in hospice, veterans and individuals seeking to re-imagine and narrate the story of their lives through poetry, song and music. As a singer-songwriter with three albums of original music and a graduate of Southwestern College with an MA in counseling, she is passionate about fostering connection and resilience. Torres also works as a faculty member at the Academy For the Love of Learning, supporting creative facilitation in a variety of their programs. In addition to her work at the Academy, Torres works as a therapist with individuals struggling with addiction and trauma at the Santa Fe Recovery Center. Torres is particularly enthusiastic about bringing youth and elders together in dynamic conversation and song around shared and divergent histories, and the beliefs and visions we hold for ourselves and the world.
