Homecoming: Songs and Stories of Service
Lifesongs Concerts are the culmination of months of creative collaboration between people of different ages, genders, race and life experiences, fostering communities of care and restoring dignity through stories and connection. The performances celebrate the voices of our elders, the insights gained at end-of-life, and the extraordinary alchemy of intergenerational creative exchange.
Since its beginnings in 2007, Lifesongs’ multigenerational collaborations have included collaborations with elderly veterans. Our 2018 concert is focused on sharing and lifting the stories of veterans in our community.
Event tickets are donation based and seating is general admission.
Lifesongs is a celebration of the human journey through music, poetry, dance, and story. An intergenerational arts project, Lifesongs provides opportunities for meaningful and creative exchange between people of different ages, genders, race and life experiences, fostering communities of care and restoring dignity through stories and connection. Through intergenerational collaboration, transformative storytelling, and community capacity building, Lifesongs focuses on systemic and sustainable change.
Lifesongs artists facilitate one-on-one creative sessions as well as group creative sessions. Collaborations culminate in high production value concerts and presentations. The concerts are inclusive and dignifying public celebrations of participants’ stories and experiences which might otherwise be lost.
A program of the Academy for the Love of Learning, Lifesongs embodies the Academy’s commitment to awakening and sustaining our capacity for transformational growth and learning at all stages of our lives.
