Notes: This workshop is a three-part series, and participants are expected to attend all three dates (Oct 1, Nov 5 and Dec 10). SFPS teachers are eligible for stipends by registering on My Learning Plan.

Now in its 9th year with the Santa Fe Public Schools, this three-part series offers a deep exploration into the Academy’s experiential learning pedagogy. Through artistic expression, reflection and peer-to-peer conversation, teachers will identify their own impulses as learners and teachers, and develop their capacities to stand as exemplars of lifelong learners before their students.

Key to the success of this program is participation in all three workshops. The workshops are sequential in content and are intentionally spread out over the course of the semester to allow time for participants to develop a sense of community and fellowship, and intentionally apply their learning in the classroom as they explore self-generated hypotheses about their own teaching and learning practices.

Facilitated by Academy faculty Dr. Lisa Faithorn and Academy depth facilitators. Teacher Renewal was conceived and designed by Aaron Stern, and along with Wisdom Circle 2.0, the annual Teacher Renewal Summer Institute, and El Otro Lado in the Schools, is offered for free to local area teachers through the Academy’s Institute for Teaching.

Who is this training for?
This program is for anyone who works with children in a K-12 classroom setting, public or private. This includes teachers, counselors, administrators, substitutes, educational assistants, librarians and more. Many participants come from the Santa Fe Public School district, which offers a stipend for participants, but the program is open and free of charge for teachers and educators from other schools and districts as well.

Participants who work in SFPS should also register on My Learning Plan to receive a Professional Development stipend from the district.
