Ernest Thompson Seton and the Exploration of Canada’s Fabled Aylmer Lake
Event Details
Ernest Thompson Seton, the leading wildlife artist of his generation, a best selling author, and co-founder of the wildlife conservation and youth outdoor education movements, was also a scientist and explorer who was fascinated by the plants and wildlife of the Arctic.
In 1907, he fulfilled his ambition to see the far north by launching The Arctic Prairies expedition out onto the Tundra regions of Canada’s Northwest Territories.
In July 2015 the Academy sent out “The Arctic Prairies Expedition II” expedition to retrace his route around remote Aylmer Lake. The result of their research about Seton’s journey is chronicled in this film.
