POSTPONED – The Power in Story

Reconnecting to the Stories of Our Lives
This Evening of Exploration asks: "What happens when we re-weave our stories together?”

Event Details

Date: Tuesday, May 12th, 2020
Time: 6:30 PM- 9:00 PM
Location: Academy Campus in Seton Village

In this time of rapid transition, it is important to understand the influence that our individual and collective stories have on our lives. What are these stories and how do they guide us? In this Evening of Exploration we will sensitively explore what can emerge when we unearth these stories and collectively breathe renewed life into them.

Join us for an Evening of Exploration into what lives behind the Love of Learning. We will introduce you to the Academy’s learning model, and some of the methods central to our work. Through an interactive dialogue we’ll explore how learning can lead not merely to the accumulation of facts or even knowledge, but perhaps more, to personal transformation and the expression of our innate gifts, longings and individual natures.

This Evening of Exploration works as a stand-alone introduction to the Academy’s work and is also an experiential introduction to The Power in Story Exploration Series, a three-part workshop series. The 2020 dates are to be announced. Please contact us if you are interested.

The series is designed by Aaron Stern and Chrissie Orr for people working with story across disciplines and applications, including artists and teaching artists, leaders, therapists, health workers and teachers. It is relevant for all who recognize the capacity of story to enliven and heal, whether experienced story workers or those who want to introduce story into their work. The workshop series consists of three workshop intensives. Learn more about The Power in Story Exploration Series here.

“Words and images can change minds, hearts, even the course of history. Their makers shape the stories people carry through their lives, unearth old ones and breathe them back to life, add new twists, point to unexpected endings. It is time to pick up the threads and make stories new, as they must always be made new, starting from where we are.”

-Uncivilisation: The Dark Mountain Manifesto

All of our Evenings of Exploration count towards the Certificate in Learning as Practice.
