Friends Special Invitation – August 23

Dear Friends,

I hope you’re well! I’m writing to invite you to a private rehearsal on Friday, August 23rd at 5:30 p.m. for Bearing Witness.” As you know, we are holding our second annual Bernstein birthday celebration on August 25th, where Aaron will be exploring the themes of Bernstein’s Jeremiah Symphony.
We would love for you to join us prior to our public celebration for a guided viewing of a historic performance of Jeremiah with Leonard Bernstein conducting and a live performance of the third movement: “Lamentations” featuring Santa Fe Opera apprentice Katherine DeYoung. This intimate evening will take place in the Geist room and inner courtyard at the Academy and will allow Aaron to share observations about the piece that he won’t be able to bring at the larger public event, particularly stories of his close relationship with the music and his time spent with Lenny during one of its performances at the Vatican. This additional viewing and discussion of Jeremiah will also provide insight and a deeper understanding of the emergent work at the Academy, which will be communicated and explored further on the evening of August 25th. We hope this special opportunity will encourage and allow you to be our allies and co-storytellers that evening when you are gathered in your small groups over dinner.
Please RSVP by Friday, August 16th to confirm your attendance. Light hors d’oeuvres and refreshments will be provided.
Take care,
