It is just over a year since we moved into our new campus at Seton Village. In that time we have deepened our relationship with our community and the land and history upon which we stand, and it is now time for us to offer a ceremony of consecration and dedication. In the company of our friends and supporters, including some special guests, we will honor the history of this land, and make an offering to it, as well as honoring the history and lineage of the Academy, and looking to a brighter future of learning and education serving future generations. We will be joined by Kathy Sanchez, of San Ildefonso Pueblo and Tewa Women United, and other elders, who will lead us in an opening blessing, as well as poet and Academy faculty member Michelle Otero. And we invite all of our many Academy friends, supporters and program participants who share with us a commitment to a culture and education system founded on a practice of transformational learning.

Following the opening ceremony outside, we invite you to an interactive exploration of Learning as Waking Up! in our new home. Share your stories and insight into your own experiences of ‘waking up’ through learning – experiences which are at the heart of the Academy’s mission as an Institute for Transformational Learning.

This exploration will be led by Academy Founder and President, Aaron Stern, and will include contributions from:

  • Academy visiting scholar, author and theologian, Matthew Fox
  • Author and activist, Frances Moore Lappé (Diet for a Small Planet, EcoMind and 18 other books)
  • Author and activist, David Abram (Spell of the Sensuous and Becoming Animal)
  • Zen Buddhist teacher and Academy faculty member, Sanchi Reta Lawler

There will also be opportunities to learn more about Academy programs, meet our faculty; visit the Seton Gallery with curator, David L. Witt; and to tour our Learning Landscape project with David L. Witt and Learning Landscape designer, Christie Green.
