Please join us in this rare and honest conversation with Scott Gibson.

Scott Gibson grew up with extreme abuse in an alcoholic environment. In 2012, Scott was diagnosed with a terminal form of tongue cancer. Following extensive surgery, cancer treatments and emotional therapies, he has decided “no more” painful interventions.

“This part of my life is about nurture, tender care, and community. My wish is to share with others the blessings and healings I have received through acceptance and forgiveness as I go through my deathing experience.” -Scott Gibson

Lifesongs Community Conversations are free and open to the public. They provide an opportunity to come together as a community to share and reflect on personal experiences with care-giving, aging and dying.
Experts from the fields of creative aging, hospice, and medicine will join community members to provide critical insight and reflection.

ChrisTina Maestas-Simek is a native New Mexican. She has a kinship with the beautiful land and all of its people. ChrisTina is a certified Death Midwifery Guide/ Home Funeral Guide, a certified Life Cycle Celebrant, a non – denominational minister, and an Intuitive teacher. Her passion is to provide a peace-filled, loving, and natural “deathing” experience in the arms of friends and family. ChrisTina  has witnessed that when one is held in a nurturing and safe environment, death can be one of life’s most profound teachers of freedom.

Molly Sturges
 is a composer, performer and facilitator. She is a co-founder and lead faculty for Lifesongs and founding artistic director of the artist collective Littleglobe, which specializes in interdisciplinary creative collaborations with a wide range of communities that foster community engagement and social transformation. In 2011 she joined the faculty at the Academy and is a professor of practice in Art and Ecology at the University of New Mexico.

Acushla Bastible is a multidisciplinary artist–performer, stage director, educator, and facilitator. She is the artistic director and a co-founder of Lifesongs, an artistic affiliate with the interdisciplinary artist collective Littleglobe, and on faculty at the Academy for the Love of Learning and the Santa Fe University of Art and Design. She is a graduate of Trinity College Dublin, the Courtauld Institute of Art in London, and École Internationale de Théâtre Jacques Lecoq in Paris.
