Please join us as the next step in our inquiry into “Don’t We Never Learn?” Part II: Learning and Transformation, where Academy Founder and President Aaron Stern and Dr. Richie Davidson, Founder and Director of the Center for Healthy Minds, will engage in a dialogue focused on what we are learning, quantitatively and qualitatively, about the transformative impact of the Academy’s work. Dr. Davidson and his team at the Center for Healthy Minds at the University of Wisconsin-Madison have been doing an extensive study of the Academy’s work over the past couple of years, and in this dialogue, we will begin to explore their findings. This second of our anniversary offerings will be held here at the Academy May 20th from 4-6 p.m. and will follow threads from the “Don’t We Never Learn?” Part I, looking for examples of the world “waking up” and holding Awareness.

2018 marks both The Academy for the Love of Learning’s 20th anniversary as an established organization, as well as the centennial of the birth of the 20th-century musical giant Leonard Bernstein. The Academy shares a deep history with Leonard Bernstein and ultimately was birthed from an intense collaboration between Bernstein and Academy President Aaron Stern during the final decade of Bernstein’s life.

To celebrate both Bernstein and the Academy’s notable anniversaries, we will be holding a series of special events throughout the year, in addition to our regular programming. This is the second of our anniversary offerings, continuing the inquiry of both the question that most occupied Bernstein in the last decade of his life, “Don’t we never learn?”, and Stern’s deep conviction that indeed we do learn: we transform, and become better at being human.
