El Otro Lado (the Other Side) is a collaborative arts and community engagement project that explores the stories of our connection to the land, our sense of home and belonging, as well as our sense of boundaries and cultural divides. Participants discover that their stories have the power to touch others, build understanding, and heal themselves and the world around them. One student noted, “I had never been asked to tell my story before, and it felt good to know it was important.” Another said, “I have a complicated story, but for once I am being asked about my story.”
We are currently seeking an intern to document a project between El Otro Lado and the Santa Fe Public Schools.
The ideal candidate should be skilled with digital still and video cameras. A strong interest in community art, education and social justice will be helpful. Internships may be completed for academic credit through your institution. Your own reliable transportation will be necessary as well as strong interpersonal and communication skills.
