Help Us Strengthen Creative Facilitation Practices for #GivingTuesday

At the core of the Academy for the Love of Learning’s mission lies the intention for the growth of right action, beginning with an individual and moving outward into the larger community. Our Creative Facilitation Cohort, a group of creative practitioners and community change-makers, have gathered together for the past two years at the Academy’s campus in Seton Village. This year, we’re excited to announce that we have received a generous gift from an anonymous donor to support the 2018 Creative Facilitation Gathering. The 2017 #GivingTuesday campaign on November 28, 2017 will focus on matching that gift to continue the work of these individuals who provide positive impact in communities throughout New Mexico.

About the Creative Facilitation Cohort

With the support of the McCune Foundation, the Academy has held a Creative Facilitation Gathering for the past two years, creating a space for cohort members to share their practices of how to bring resilient change to their communities. The group came together in weekend-long intensives held at the Academy, offering space to learn about each other’s communities, share practices through cohort-member led workshops, and expand our understanding of the impact of creative facilitation through guided reflection, dialogue, and ritual.

In early 2018, the Creative Facilitation Gathering will build upon these previous gatherings, giving cohort members the rare opportunity to share experience and learn from each other through reflective and feedback practices. Members of the cohort engage a diverse community in Northern New Mexico, including indigenous people, immigrant families, LGBTQ+, veterans, HIV + community members, youth and elders. The cohort gathering supports these populations by engaging facilitators in honest dialogue around creative practices, providing an outlet for healing to the social trauma that exists throughout our whole community and inviting all to share from their deepest selves while opening to learning and transformation.

We are seeking to match a portion of the donation through this campaign with a goal of $2,500. By donating on November 28 with #GivingTuesday, you will continue the important work of New Mexico creative change-makers, bringing their learnings back to their individual communities, and enriching our state. Thank you for your support of the Academy.

“To bring so many practitioners together in an ongoing basis across one season is rare. It has prompted me to think through different ways that I can approach my own work.” -Mi’Jan Celie Tho-Biaz
