El Otro Lado Workshop
Event Details
The El Otro Lado workshops are designed to explore new ways of learning and leading, developing skills for facilitating and sharing story while integrating the arts and creative process. Throughout the nine month program, themes of collaboration, community, place, reflection, and the power of story through artistic expression are explored.
The El Otro Lado program brings positive change through nurturing connection, empathy and understanding. Whether in school classrooms or group settings, El Otro Lado combined with the Academy for the Love of Learning transformative learning model draws upon the powers of experience, discovery, conceptualization, and meaning-making to strengthen and grow relationships. The EOL stories come together to produce powerful images, give voice, and empower us to re-imagine our lives and restore our communities.
Here’s what one of our former participants had to say about an El Otro Lado workshop:
“The gathering was a breath of fresh air! It was nice to learn and participate with a group of like-minded colleagues. I loved that we learned through the framework we will be using in the classroom and that we were able to explore and MAKE art! My favorite, however, was learning about the focus for El Otro Lado…the pedagogy aspect excites me beyond words! Thank you, thank you, thank you for this opportunity!”
