CANCELED – LEAP: Learning as a Practice

Explore how learning is a lifelong practice
Ideal for educators, mentors, parents, and anyone else who teaches, and learns, in and out of schools, this workshop invites participants into an experience, and a reflection on that experience, that helps us surface our most deeply held beliefs about teaching and learning.

Event Details

Date: Saturday, September 12th, 2020
Time: 9:30 AM- 4:00 PM
Location: Academy Campus in Seton Village
Notes: One-hour break for lunch (we recommend bringing a lunch so that you don’t need to leave campus)

This foundational workshop for learning as a practice looks at how learning itself is a lifelong practice connecting us with aliveness and the potential for transformation. The Impulse Exercise, a learning experience designed by Academy Founder and president Aaron Stern over 30 years ago, invites you to explore who you are as a learner. Through a process of reflection and finding meaning, we ask: how do you stay connected to your own learning? What enlivens you? What shuts you down? How can you encourage and support others?

“I believe that we learn by practice. Whether it means to learn to dance by practicing dancing or to learn to live by practicing living, the principles are the same… Practice means to perform, over and over again in the face of all obstacles, some act of vision, of faith, of desire. Practice is a means of inviting the perfection desired.” Martha Graham
