Seton Gallery

Event Details

Date: Thursday, January 9th, 2014
Time: 12:00 AM- 2:00 AM

When the Academy purchased Seton’s last remaining home and grounds in 2003, it also acquired a collection of Seton-related items, including over 300 original works of art, hundreds of books from Seton’s personal library, and a rich assortment of artifacts and archival material.

The physical gallery is located on the first floor of the Academy’s campus outside Santa Fe, New Mexico, just steps away from the restored remains of Seton’s iconic castle. Here, we are honored to display such star pieces as Sharp-shinned Hawk, completed when Seton was just sixteen, and his masterwork, The Sleeping Wolf (1891). Illustrations from his books, plus other Woodcraft and wildlife drawings are also on display, including dozens of little-viewed drawings and paintings in open-display drawers. Admission is free.
