The Stories We Weave Together: A Story Gathering Celebration

An Evening of Intergenerational Story Exchange

Experience the power of intergenerational creative exchange. Short group presentations will give those attending a glimpse into the meaningful relationships that have developed between a group of elders (residents of the Santa Fe Care Center), a class of students (5th graders from the Santa Fe Waldorf School), and a handful of community volunteers.

The Story Gathering project brings youth, community members, and elders together to share stories and life experiences. Participants collaboratively shape stories into new works of writing and art and share these with the wider community.

This creative engagement project, born out of the Lifesongs program, builds relationships across generations, fosters social inclusion for elders, and integrates the wisdom of elders into the community.

Over the last three months, and with the support of Lifesongs facilitating artists and community volunteers, Santa Fe Waldorf School 5th grade students have spent time getting to know elders from the Santa Fe Care Center. Collaborating in small groups, they have exchanged stories, songs, and insights with one another. They have been as surprised to discover what they share in common as they have been fascinated by their differences. We invite you to experience the warmth, beauty, and wisdom that have filled these exchanges.

Stacy Kinsley

Stacy Kinsley was introduced to Lifesongs in 2010 when her son's 2nd grade class began the Santa Fe Waldorf School partnership with the program. Immediately following the concert, she knew she had to be a part of this amazing and enriching program. In 2014 she began as Lifesongs’ School Liaison with the Santa Fe Waldorf School, and has overseen the relationship with the school for the Story Gathering project. Stacy also runs her own guide business, Yogihiker, and is partnering with a retreat center in Ojo Caliente, Origins at Rancho de San Juan.

Stacey McMullen

Stacey McMullen came to Lifesongs two years ago as a participant in the Ensemble. It was there she discovered the rich experience of intergenerational community exchange. She holds a BA in Sociology from Hanover College. Stacey is a registered Music Together Teacher and Early Childhood Specialist for FAM JAM! in Santa Fe. Collaborating through song, spoken word and movement creates human connection at its finest. She is happily continuing her work with the Lifesongs Story Gathering Team.
