In response to COVID-19 and social distancing, the Academy for the Love of Learning is reimagining our Evenings of Exploration as virtual community experiences that will begin in 2021. Stay tuned for newsletter and blog updates on the reimagining and redesigning of our work.

Drawn from the work of George Ella Lyon and Levi Romero, workshop participants will explore their own stories of identity – whatever that means to each person at this moment in their individual lives. Engaging with personal story through oral, written, and visual reflection helps to evoke multi-sensory memories of place, culture, and ancestry. Using a variety of creative materials, each participant creates their own visual “I am from…” poem and, together, the group experiences the rich learning that emerges from telling and hearing story.

All of our Evenings of Exploration count towards the Certificate in Learning as Practice.
